Common HIAB job

Solar Panel Lifting · Perth

Two-storey roof, pallet of 30 panels, no scaffold. Up in ten minutes, ready for the installer.

The job, explained

How it works.

Perth installs more rooftop solar than anywhere else in the country, and most of it goes onto homes that weren't built with solar in mind. Hauling pallets of panels up a ladder is slow, dangerous, and easy to damage stock — a HIAB lifts the lot in one go and lands them gently exactly where the installer wants them.

Standard residential solar installs involve 20-40 panels per home, plus the mounting rails, inverters, and isolators. A typical pallet weighs 400-500kg and is too awkward to manhandle. We pick the pallet up from the kerb (or the supplier), lift it onto the roof, and place it across the ridge or beside the install zone so the team can work straight from it.

For commercial installs — warehouses, office roofs, large carports — the volumes are bigger and the lifts are higher. Same approach, larger lift count. Often combined with the inverter cabinet placement at ground level on the same callout.

Timing is the other thing. Solar installers work to tight schedules and a delayed lift means a delayed install. Booking the HIAB in for a specific window, often early morning, is standard. We slot solar lifts into the run and confirm the time the day before so the install crew can plan around it.

Common questions

FAQs.

How many panels can you lift in one go?

A standard residential pallet of 25-30 panels is one lift. For larger commercial jobs we can do multiple lifts in sequence — usually 2-3 pallets per callout depending on roof access.

Can you lift onto a two-storey roof?

Yes — standard reach handles two-storey residential roofs with a clear truck park. For three-storey or unusual access, send a photo with your quote and we'll confirm reach.

Do you coordinate with the install crew?

Always. Tell us the install company name and preferred lift time when you book, and we'll arrive in their window so the panels are roof-ready when they need them.

What if the install is over multiple days?

We can do staged lifts — drop the first batch, return when the next is needed. For larger commercial jobs that's standard. Just flag the schedule when you book.
